Extremely Rare Orange FitzHugh Eagle Platter
A quintessential example of chinese export porcelain made for the American Market, this fine piece depicts a meticulously rendered eagle from the great seal of the United States centered amongst the motifs and border of the brilliant Orange FitzHugh pattern. From a very small group of wares surviving from the early moments of our young republic, this piece has been associated with a service made for Richard Stockton ( 1764-1828) who represented New Jersey in both the House and Senate. Circa 1810-1820.
